Fitness in the Elderly: Physiologic and Functional Approach

Abstract
In the elderly significant decreasing of physiologic component and functional ability of daily living were found in several studies. These changes can cause to decrease physical activity and fitness in the elderly. Low level of physical fitness is one of risk factor to decrease quality of life and functional activity. Functional activity should be evaluated in old person and then make program improve physical fitness level. The factors to be evaluated include muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, agility and balance function. Therefore, Physical fitness is an important component of health in the elderly. So we conduct this article to suggest that how to assess physical fitness and to exercise properly in the elderly.
